The brake drums on my car are painted red which is a bit 'Max Power' for my liking. Did they come out of the factory like that or is it a previous owners doing? _________________ '93 Black 33 1.7 16v |

I'd say definitely a previous owner.
And why would anyone paint brake drums a bright colour? Drums are not considered a performance item - you don't want to draw attention to the fact that your car isn't big or powerful enough to warrant rear disc brakes.. _________________ "Now, all that is left to do ... is wait that something else brokens, to fix up again!" |

My thoughts exactly, though my driving style is pretty light on the brakes so I find them more than adequate.
So I guess they should be black, yes? _________________ '93 Black 33 1.7 16v |

Hi,
From the factory i think they were just raw iron, so they usually look like something that was brought up from the titanic.
I painted mine with black hammerite which has stayed fine for 8 years, so i guess they don't get very hot.

My choice of paint for brakes is aerosol barbecue paint, that'll do the trick. _________________ '93 Black 33 1.7 16v |

If I was very clever I'd paint them to look like ventillated discs! _________________ '93 Black 33 1.7 16v |
