Mike Spencley is selling his amazing 16v Sportwagon on ebay, its prob the best 1 i've ever seen. Well worth a look. Item number 120555391267. It says it's an ie on the title but it is a 16v.

I think the £1000 starting price might be a stumbling block to getting a bid.
I hope he gets it but they still arent really in the 4 figure bracket yet are they, especially on ebay.

I think it's easily worth over £1000, a lot of people will be scared to bid though coz of the high start, i'm sure we are all watching it with interest. I saw a P4 sell last year for £1400, also a lovely champagne 16v sold recently for £1500. It's good to see the prices rising. Very Happy

I see it from the other side. If you want that car and know what it is, you'll make contact with him and view it in person.

High starts keep the idiots away.

eBay, in this instance, probably isn't intended to get through to checkout, it's cheap exposure to the widest audience. You don't want the fees if you can avoid them

Well worth the money. Got to be worth at least £1500 because of what it is: the top spec engine in the rarest yet most usable body. And just look at the condition! It's still got the Lombarda sticker in the back. If that was a Ford, and one of the best in the country, it would be open chequebook, no?

The only downside I can see is that it's in champers. But if it had been in rosso it probably wouldn't be here today Wink

That Lombarda sticker has been there since pre 1995 as it's 071- i'd guesss it's from nearly new/ new

I've still got original AFG sticker in back of mine from 1993 when new Smile

Still got the dealer sticker from 1982 in my Lancia Beta rear window. They went bust within the year. Makes you wonder what they went through Sad

Sadly I disagree, if it was a ford it would be a Sierra estate at that age, my checkbooked would be firmly closed. Razz

Eating humble pie now as he has a couple of bids.
But I wonder now if it will make reserve (Im a cynical old b*+*+*d).
I wish I had the room and cash, I love sport wagons.

Noooo... wrong market sector. 33 was Escort/Orion class. 75 & 155 competed with Sierra Cool

Never mind, what you really really want is a nice wheezy CVH for your three grand Laughing

155 was more an early Mondeo rival, and the 75 was granada size car.
My opinion of course. Smile

Well i would rather have my 155 than any Mondeo on the planet, its good to read that people like the 33 sportwagon though, i love mine. Very Happy I think his reserve is around the £1500 area.

I loved my 155 too it was a 2.0 8v fabulous car, always regretted selling her.
Also loved my sportwagon a series 2 clover which used to carry my tools and ladders to work (at great speed) every day.
As for mondeos never even been in one so cant comment.
I did though have a sierra xr4x4 for a while and that was a phenominal car, really did put a smile on the face and also some brown stuff in the pants once or twice Embarassed
I dont know to this day how I managed to not plant that firmly in the scenery, it was awsome

A mate had an xr4x4 in the early 90s and I have to admit it wasn't bad (for a ford). The only other ford i've liked was another mate's mk2 rs2000- that was cool. £3k though for a mk3/4 basic escort estate Shocked

A few of us took a Mondeo hire car to the German Grand Prix a few years ago. I think something was wrong with the suspension as it seemed to have self-levelling problems and felt like a boat in heavy waters - we all felt a bit sea-sick on the way back, but were then fine on the ferry. Laughing

mondeos are horrible cars ,when i used to work for a accident repair garage we had loads in from the early shape m reg ones to the later shape s reg ones ,drove horrible and looked horrible also.
not sure what the new ones are like but i would rather a new alfa over a new ford as it has more style, drives better and not as common.

Didn't this thread move off topic Laughing

I had a Mk1 Mondeo as a company hack, new. It was built much worse than my 155. Bits fell off in and out, it went through two clutches by 50k, the gearbox was notchy and stiff and had me yelling. It was scrapped-off at 90k in year 8. It's a no.

The Sportwagon went unsold at £1200
