Hi guys,

I have the chance of a 16v engine with ALL the ancillaries, including the wiring and ecu.

Question is how hard or easy is it to plumb it into my imolas electrics? Also do they use the same type of Lambda sensor? I have a grand plan to use an aftermarket ecu (eventually) to write my own maps etc but would first like to get the engine running on its own system too make sure all is well with the engine.

Any Ideas wise men of alfa pages?

Hi, nice project..
I have see that done many times (by others 'Confused'
I got one 16v motor and wiring for my Imola but I hesitated
because in Italy is not possible make modifications legal).
Yes it is easy if you have the wiring and ecu of the 16v,
ecu with injection and ignition system it is self independent,
it is connected by only two or four simply wires to the rest
of the electric of the car..
You only have to swap motor and wiring, eventually but not
necessarily copying original 16v position of the elements
(in 16 v ecu is in the body, near passenger seat, and not
near the motor), and if you do some minor errors
(like reles connections) every electrical repair shop
for cars can help you.

Lambda have different spare code, don't know if it is really
different or it have only different length wiring..
but surely you need 16v exhaust manifold, it is
bigger and with different fastening to the motor heads.

You surely know, It will bee a safe idea
modify also the rest of the car like a 16v
(ventilates brakes, front antiroll-bar, bigger tyres),'Shocked'
instead shock adsorbers and coils are already quite similar,
16v can use the normal ones used on other 33
(16v "elegance" version, the one without rear spoiler)
or the shocks sport version (16v "sport", q.v, etc..) if you want
a behaviour a little more solid (consider 16v motor is heavier
so harder shocks are tolerated without to much lost in confort).
