Will attempt to disassemble my bosch dizzy tonight to replace the springs and clean things up.

Bit concerned I might encounter trouble.
any tips from someone who has done this before would be great.

But I think I found the right manual to take it apart.
Got to achieve this within a couple of hours as my car will be parked on the street and then need to be moved after re-installation after work.

page 82 on this doc appears to be the same match. 2 x circlips with the star interrupter and stator plate.

removed the top plates(interruptor and stator).

inspecting the springs.
The secondary spring is thinner than the one I have from John!
Total advance measures 15/16+ degrees on the protractor! There seemed to be some wear on the end stops.
That's ~30 + 8 = 38+
I have the static at 7 now to reduce the detonation a little.(but not good for idling - warms up fast)

38+ is a bit extreme.
Well I'll get John's springs in. Probably the thicker spring will help to reduce that detonating at 3000 rpm range.
I also moved the weights stops in just a touch to bring down the total advance a little.

Bit of trial and error will probably be needed here to get the right curve with no detonation, and a good static idle advance (with vacuum advance connected also)

I added some pre-load to the second spring and 100% improvement.
Now I can dial in 8-9 degrees static and WOT no detonation.

I see the advance increases slower with the timing light which is what I wanted.
Even with the vacuum attached all runs nice now.

Maybe I've lost a tiny amount of power but really I've gained power as it doesn't detonate anymore.
detonation= loss of power and engine damage.
