Around a year after spending thousands restoring my 33 16v 94 reg i decided to MOT and insure her to get her back on the road. Even though it wasnt driven.for around a year i would regularly start her up. Previously the fuel tank had rusted and petrol was leaking. I had the tank replaced so thought all was well. I started her up no problem but when i looked underneath petrol was leaking from what looked like 4 areas all along the same line. Im hoping it is just a seal or loose pipe as iv spent way too much cash on her as it is.
Sadly if it is something more serious i would probably strip it down and sell it.
Im not mechanically minded so am looking for a mechanic around Slough.
Any help be greatly appreciated

Hi,

Did you fill the car up with fuel before the leak/s happened? If so it may be coming from the top of the tank either an old perished breather hose or where the sender sits.

The filler hoses perish too which may become evident with more fuel in the tank bringing the level up the hose.

AlfaAid in Maidenhead is near you, they go back years and know 33s, or if you can safely get it to Aylesbury I can highly recommend AforAlfa.

Good luck

John

Hi John
The car was near empty so put 5litre in from a jerry can and noticed the leak then. It may well of happened before that but i might not of noticed. Iv dealt with Alfa Aid before and know Adrian as i used to get my 33 serviced from them.
No complaints with the work but it was very pricey. Im looking for an independent mechanic who perhaps works from home rather than a big garage.

Hopefully it's just a rubber pipe upstream from the electric fuel pump(under pressure with the ignition on).

Sorry I should have said downstream(after pump).

If you get in under it should be easier to see the problem. If the tank is wet it could be what John says (more likely to be the filler pipe than pipes on top of the tank) If the tank is dry then you should be able to trace it to a pipe as Eagle says.

I know an independent garage in Woking - ONY Motors. They are very fair and very good. They come highly recommended by me and many others. Ask for Ben (Schifano) and let him know Nnamdi sent you. Let me know if / when you're taking your car in. It'll be good to see it.
