Being a bit lazy, but before I start detailed research, does anyone know...

Is the P4 front hub and wheel bearing different from the 2WD series 3 16v front hub and wheel bearing?

I am getting hold of some bearings, and at first inspection on eBay, was surprised that some of the compatibility charts reckoned the P4 bearings were not compatible with the 2WD ones.

I am replacing the NS hub on the 16v as 2 of the strut mounting threads are stripped, but only have P4 hubs to replace them with.

If no-one knows, I will report back so we have it recorded for posterity!!! Very Happy Very Happy

I found a couple of strut mounting threads stripped on our Sprint (same suspension as 33).
It was quite easy to repair them with thread inserts and new bolts.
I bought a helicoil kit for the appropriate size - 14mm I believe. It consists of a drill, special tap, inserting tool and a few inserts.
Cheaper and easier than replacing the hub carriers Very Happy
I take great care that the threaded holes are in line when I reassemble struts, and turn the bolts in by hand until I'm sure the threads are not crossed.

Chrs guys

I have a set of P4 front hubs ready to go on, with good threads, but paused when I looked at the bearing specifications because P4 and 16v are listed differently.

I will investigate further and let you know. May do both hubs and use P4 ones as the wheels will be off shortly to pop the big brakes on Very Happy

Hi..from 90 to 94 all 33 (series 3)
have same front hubs (to be exact there are
2 front hub versions: with abs sensor mounting and without)
and same wheel bearing.. Very Happy
I knowed it already but to be sure
I verified on "Eper" (is the official
fiat - alfa - lancia spare catalogue, you can find it
on cd-rom or also use it free on-line).. Shocked

I had a look on a french site and it does appear that they're all the same for series 3 33s.
I checked the 1.3 i.e. , 16V and 4x4 and they all come up with http://www.webdealauto.com/fr/roulement-de-roue-a-l-unite/skf-vkba-1447.654.88751.102.html

In fact they seem to go on all 33s from'83.

Of course they could be wrong! It wouldn't be the first time.

Yep, Eper was going to be one line of research although the Fiat Forum free version seems to be broken at the minute.

My P4 hubs look identical to the 16v ones, so I reckon this is a fair bet that they are all the same and the parts compatibility lists on eBay are incorrect.
