Hey guys,

I'm having a small issue with my 33, somehow the brake fluid seems to disappear into thin air!
Now there has to be a leak somewhere, but what could it be?

I checked underneath, but I couldn't find any bleeding hoses and all.
So that leaves me to think that one of the brake (master/slave?) cilinders could be faulty.

But to be on the safe side, what more could it be?

I'd put a shilling on it being the clutch slave cylinder.. Very Happy

Could be a rear brake cylinder I suppose but you would see fluid at the bottom of the backplate

Just follow hydraulic hose from clutch master, top left side of engine/gearbox union.

If it is the clutch the reservoir level would drop to where the clutch pipe comes out but no further, so clutch would eventually fail before brakes ever do.

We'll see what will be the culprit.
At least now i know where to look at, because it's sometimes driving me bonkers.

Hi

With a 33 we knew the fluid was leaking from a tiny hole in the metal pipe as it comes from the master cylinder, on a bend. Push the brake pedal hard while peering at it and you can just see it dribble out, but there was no obvious evidence.

All the best

Keith

Well guys,

I'm going to change the clutch slave cylinder, just to be on the safe side.

If you can pull back the rubber boot you'll soon be able to confirm if it's the culprit.

Good luck

John
