|
|
With the prospect of heavy rain tomorrow, Ive been wondering if the wiper motor can be upgraded so they don't crawl across the screen at an embarrassingly slow speed? I remember my Sud being the same.
I know the 145 suffers with slow wipers and people have replaced the gearbox grease with varying levels of success, maybe a better motor can be fitted?
Regards,
Kev. |

Rain??
No there's no rain expected, don't worry about it.
I am expecting sunshine from now until at least December the 24th
You won't need wipers, perhaps dab on a little rain x just case there's the odd spot _________________ Presntly own

No problem on my series 3. Are you sure this is not a worn our motor / lubrication problem rather than the need for upgrade. _________________ '93 Black 33 1.7 16v |

I have had badly worn mechanical arms that push and pull the wipers before, replaced them with a set from a series 3, the motor can get a bit bound up with grease that has started to harden, but the 2 spindle's you bolt the wiper arms suffer the same thing you have to undo a circlip to release the spindle's clean and put new grease in. The alternator may also show poor signs of low voltage output thus having a slow wiper speed, again I swapped my 55 amp series 2 for a 65 amp from a series 3, it made quit a lot of difference to all the electrical system in better performance. _________________ PHAT 33 |

Thanks for the answers chaps, they have got better with use, so as you said, maybe a strip down and new grease is all they need
Cheers,
