Not sure on the dimensions but check the nuts for rack mounting electrical equipment:-

These were the right size for something similar I needed on an Italian bike but might be a bit small for the wiper mount.

thanks for that, I've already got some of those, but they can't be thro' mounted in the existing holes so it's definitely the original type I need

I know someone who may have some anti-rusting chrome ones and am due to see him next week. They would be a little pricier than normal.

Part number 14648290 - any Fiat or Alfa Romeo main dealer will be able to get them for you easily. They're around 75p each
