When one thing goes it is always followed by another issue.

Got a bearing noise around the water pump or left timing belt pulley tensioner.
Only when cold though.

Will take off the pump pulley and start the engine to see if it's the pump orvbelt tensioner.

Looking at the dayco timing kit.

Yep. I have the same problem at the moment.

My grating noise is coming from the other bank (16v) so not a water pump issue. Haven't yet determined which pulley has gone but it's on the jobs to do list...sooner rather than later!

like a grating noise isn't it?

Just bought the Gates timing kit.
Looking for a pump now also.

Dolz are cheap.
Valeo or Mapco also on ebay.

Anyone heard of Dolz?

Dolz is a budget brand. Don't know how good they are.

SKF is usually a safe bet. What's available on a french parts site http://www.oscaro.com/pompe-a-eau-alfa-romeo-33-907-1-4-ie-90cv-1260-197-1698-gt

thanks.
Maybe Valeo is a better choice then. just a few pounds more.
Valeo is a choice for alfa with some parts.

Original alfa pump close to here in Buenos Aires is 100USD + shipping/taxes.

Sad

Maybe I can get one for a 145/146 or even Nissan Cherry/Sunny N12.

As far as I know the pump is the same for all Alfa boxer engines.

The timing belts are 98 teeth for mecanical tappets and 100 for hydraulic.

New water pump installed along with tensioners and belts.
Old pump looked ok but had a plastic impeller.

I did notice a difference in water temp.
Stays a little cooler and when idling stuck in traffic the temp is more stable. It does not rise as fast as it did before.

So new pump is shifting more water apparently.
