If you’re playing Grow A Garden, you might have heard about the Tanchozuru. This Legendary pet has some unique features that set it apart from other pets, and in this guide, we’ll cover how to get it, how it works, and how most players use it effectively.

What is a Tanchozuru?

The Tanchozuru is a Legendary pet that players can obtain from the Zen Egg. Its chance of hatching from a Zen Egg is 4.6%, making it relatively rare compared to more common pets. The pet was added to the game on July 19th, 2025, and has quickly become sought after because of its unique trait, Balance and Harmony.

Visually, the Tanchozuru is easy to recognize. It has long grey legs, a white body, and red hair on its head. Its grey scrag holds the head, giving it a distinct stance. Players often spot them standing gracefully in gardens, meditating or watching nearby fruits.

How to Obtain a Tanchozuru

To get a Tanchozuru, you’ll need a Zen Egg. Most players find Zen Eggs through regular gameplay, like completing garden tasks or earning rewards from events. Since the hatch chance is 4.6%, it might take several eggs before you get one.

Some players choose to buy small amount of Grow a Garden tokens on U4N to speed up the process of acquiring Zen Eggs. Using tokens this way can increase the number of eggs you can hatch in a short time, though it’s worth noting that the hatch chance for a Tanchozuru remains the same.

Tanchozuru’s Trait: Balance and Harmony

The main reason players value the Tanchozuru is its trait. Called Balance and Harmony, it has the following effect:

Every ~10 minutes and 24 seconds, the Tanchozuru meditates for around 10 seconds.

During this meditation, nearby fruits within a 15-stud radius have about a 5% chance per second to mutate into Tranquil.

In practice, this means that if you have multiple fruits growing close to your Tanchozuru, you have a small but consistent chance to get Tranquil fruits without extra effort. Most players position the Tanchozuru near high-value fruits or fruit clusters to maximize the chance of mutations.

How the Trait Compares to Other Pets

The Tanchozuru’s trait is sometimes compared to the Flamingo pet. Both pets have effects on nearby fruits and involve a form of meditation or standing pose:

The Flamingo accelerates fruit growth.

The Tanchozuru mutates fruits into Tranquil.

In general, if your goal is to increase fruit quantity, a Flamingo might be more useful. But if you want to obtain specific Tranquil fruits for recipes, crafting, or other gameplay purposes, the Tanchozuru can be a valuable addition to your garden.

Hunger and Maintenance

Like all pets in Grow A Garden, the Tanchozuru has a hunger stat of 40,000. This means it needs to be fed regularly to maintain its effectiveness. Most players find that keeping it fed consistently ensures the pet triggers its meditation and trait reliably.

Positioning Tips

Because the Tanchozuru affects fruits in a radius, placement is key:

Put it near your main fruit-growing area.

Ensure the pet has enough nearby fruits to trigger mutations.

Keep in mind that the chance per second is about 5%, so having multiple fruits in range increases the likelihood that at least one will mutate during meditation.

Most players use it in combination with other pets that speed up growth or generate rare fruits, creating a more productive setup.

Final Thoughts

The Tanchozuru is not just a visually striking pet—it’s useful for players who want to strategically mutate fruits into Tranquil. While it’s rare and requires patience to hatch from a Zen Egg, its trait can provide long-term benefits for focused fruit cultivation.

Whether you’re a new player or a seasoned gardener, understanding how the Tanchozuru works and positioning it effectively will help you make the most of this Legendary pet.
