Hi pj

when my alfa was an 8v i had K& n's on it, sounded nice but you will have to make a cover for them so they can only suck cold air and not hot air from your engine bay

hope that help's john

The easiest way is to fit a performance element in the standard airbox.

K&N do one to fit, and you sometimes see them on Ebay by Pipercross and others.

Does the element from the injected cars fit the airbox of the carb'd cars? Something makes me think they do, but don't take my word for it.

Re cold air intake - don't the carbs need warm air ? My airbox has a pipe going to the exhaust to take warmed air into the airbox (or is that just switched on at the winter setting ???)

Cheers,

PJ.

.

The warm air is to aid quick warm up when the engine is cold. Cold air is more dense and therefore will produce more power (i.e. you get a bigger charge into the cylinders).

and if yours is like everyone elses, the hot air shroud around the exhaust will have disappeared a long time ago!
