Hi,
I have a 33 1.3 sport wagon 4x4. While I was driving a strange noise appeared. It is like tapping. In the beginning it was rare but it began to appear all the time. When I stopped I found out that water trickles from the water pump and its pulley shakes with the pivot. The problem is that I can’t remove the pump. I removed the pulley, unscrewed the four bolts from the block but the cover of the pump couldn’t budge. Would you tell me how can I remove the pump?

Thanks in advance

Hi

These are known for being difficult. As a worst case scenario I knew one mechanic who said just to hit the pump repeatedly with a large hammer, working on the basis that the alloy pump would shatter before the iron block

The problem is the alloy pump and iron block fuse together

I think some people have had some success making a tool to grip onto the 4 mounting holes for the pump and then trying to twist it

All the best

Keith

Hi !

I recently had to change the waterpump on my 33. I had to remove the bumper, mask and the water cooler. The pump was so stuck that I couldn't even move her. I had to crush her on the engine and take her out in pieces. It took about 4 hours to do that. I had to be careful not to damage the block.
I hope I'll never have to change the pump again.
