Simple question; has anyone tried using Colourtune sparkplug tuning set to tune their carbs? which I think changes colour depending on quality of combustion? Is it worth anything or just a waste of money. Question

Hi!

My father had one to tune his old FIAT 128 and said it was very realiable as you could see the actual combustion color with diferent settings .

By the color you can see if the mixture is rich / poor or ok, even when acelerating!!

I think it's worth the money .

I'm planning to buy a kit for me too .

I've got one and it's a top gadget. Used it on my Mk2 at MOT time for the past 3 years. I tend to set the mix slightly weak for the Gas Analyser test and richen the carbs after.

It's best used in dim light area, makes it easier to see the spark in the mirror. The back 2 cylinders on the 33 are a bit fiddly to see into.

halfords (uk) still sell them @ 19.99

Also keeps my GS750, Classic Vespa and lawnmower running sweet. Very Happy

Buy 2 one for each bank so you can tune both carbs together! I used to have a car with a single 40, adjusting one choke had an effect on the other so it made adjusting the carb easy.
