Even though we might think that the 33 was such a nice design that others wanted to copy it, I think Lada actually used the Talbot as a reference when designing the Samara. When you compare the two, it is quite clear that the 33 is a completely different looking car. It is quite common for some car manufacturers to copy others' designs. Compare the Alfa 156 SW with the Honda accord station wagon for instance. I'm glad Honda made it so much uglier though . The Mazda 6 is a better copy but also they raped the 156 SW design.
