1) I've bought a new anti pulse valve to go in the hose between the vacuum advance and the left carb. There's an arrow on it bit I've no idea which direction it should point - Any ideas?

2) Also, there's a hose coming from a breather pipe on the right side inlet manifold with a plastic valve(?) in. Where should the other end of this hose attach? (what is it for?)

Any feedback would be really helpful
Thanks, Richard

The approved haynes technique is to try blowing/sucking through the device to check orientation. Blowing is obviously better, as sucking can get your gob full of crud!! (ask any of the female members of the forum to explain further Laughing Laughing )

The carb will want to draw air towards the carb. You should orientate the non return thing to allow flow of air from distributer to the carb, as you are trying to create a vacuam at the dizzy, using the carb to venturi air out of the pipe.

The one on the left of the engine (viewed from the fan belt/bonnet hinge end) is the vacuam send to the servo for the brakes. Again, air is sucked from the servo towards the carb body, to achieve vacuam in the servo. Quite important, as it helps make your brakes work!! Make sure the valve allows flow of air from servo to carb.

Thanks Matt, my questions answered plus an explanation, you learn something every day!

I won't need the brake servo vacuum pipe then, as the engine is going in a kit car that uses a different master cylinder. (replica 1955 porsche 550 spyder)
