I've come up with a dilemma in my 8V->16V engine swap.

Where on earth do you put the washer fluid bottle?

In my series 2, there is a large, visible bottle on the left which sits IN the engine bay. This is not present in the series 3 and seems to be located just behind the suspension strut, above the wheelarch.

I would hope that the series 2 would have space behind the strut for a bottle, too - after all, fuel injected series 2's were released, with airboxes where the bottle would normally go, so the space must be there in both series 2 and 3.

If the space IS there in the carbed series 2's, how do I get to it to put the bottle there? I also need to know this so I can get the bottle out of the series 3 as well, naturally.

The series 3 washer bottle bolts to a small piece of metal that goes between if i remember, the inner and outer wing. Id guess that that part at least would not convert exactly to a series 2. I have a great picture of this somewhere but not in a position to upload it presently.

Hi

For this I would be tempted to use one of the bag washer bottles. These are readily available for kit cars, and are very similar to what was fitted to the early Sud. OK you loose the massive capacity of the original 33 washer bottle (out of fluid, must be time for a service Laughing )

The series 3 washer bottle lives in the wheel arch hidden behind the plastic wheel arch liner, and to filler neck pokes through the inner wing just behind the r/h strut

All the best

Keith

If you do go the bag route then just go to a scrap yard, the Fiat uno uses one.
