hello everyone.

i come from slovenia and i dont speak english i hope someone will uderstand.

i have problem whit my gearbox. i have it half restored. i dont know how to take all wheels out to change synchroniser (1st, 2nd and 3rd gear). i have problem with a smal wheel wich is pushing a diferencial (i dont know if this is right word to use- a big thing wich aloves front wheels to rotate with diferent speeds) problem is also whit wheel for R (when you dont drive forward). so when i take this 2 out i can take out "stick" wich is holding wheels and synchronisers in the gearbox.

i hope someone will help me. i am trying to restore it for one and a half week and i cant figure that out. if you guys dont understand please tell me and i will try with diferent words.

Lp.

Luka

will try to translate Smile

big thing = crown wheel
small wheel = pinion
R = reverse
stick = shaft
synchroniser = baulk ring, which is part of a synchromesh unit

there are 3 main shafts

pinion shaft, which has the driven gear on it and synchro's
Primary shaft or counter shaft, which has the drive gears on it
input shaft or Direct drive shaft, which comes from engine.

and then the Reverse gear shaft, it has a retaining screw located on the outside of the gearbox casing, remove this and the shaft it removed.

You really need correct tools for this job, Pullers, a press, dial gauges, torque wrenchs to set correct end float and preload on bearings or the gearbox will fail!

What do you need to know how to remove?
