I'm about to embark on a cambelt change....
So I thought I'd give you all the chance to brag on how quick you can do it, before I get started! _________________ Fiat Bravo 165 Sport |

did it on an mr2 turbo the other week. omg that was hard work. we had to take the engine out to do it!!! took me 2 days! to get the belt on and then i still had to put the lump back in!
not tried it on an alfa yet. but when i build a turbo lump i'll have to do it.
good luck, and do post back to let some of us people know where you got stuck and what to look out for.

oh and tippex!
mark the cams wheels with tippex and a little mark on the block too. so you line them up if they get moved.

Under the cam covers there is a notch at the rear of the cam housing that lines up with a notch on the rear of the cam itself, they line up when cyl 1 is at TDC on compression. It comes with it's own tippex!!!

I hope you're going to change the belt tensioners too so your engine doesn't self-destruct like mine did! 5 months after the garage replaced the timing belts, the motor started sounding and running bad and then crack bang, I needed a replacement engine. |

if you check old posts by me and others you should find how to do 16v belts.this is the only car i have ever done the the belts on.its easy when you know how too.i killed 8 valves on one side and bent one on the drivers side which a mate straightened. but it was only slightly bent.i rebuilt the engine in the car in the road out side the house. that was a year ago and she still fine!
