Mine would be either a Lancia Monte Carlo, Lancia Beta or Fiat X/19 or maybe a Porsche 924. It would depend on which came up for sale at a decent price first as I wouldn't mind any of them! The Lancia Monte Carlo would be my number one choice, but a decent one would be several times the cost of a decent 33 I think! What would you own?

but if it had to be something i haven't got then i'd quite like an MR2 turbo.

if i had 25k to spend on a car (and i dont) first on my list would be a lotus esprit v8se but i would also like an exige.

Hi

We have had it since 1997. My better half was on crutches for years from a broken leg (she wrapped an Alfasud round a lamp post) and could not drive a manual so we wanted a reasonable size automatic with a reasonable amount of go.

The turbo engine works well with an auto box as you do not need to back off the throttle to change gear.

Performance wise it goes very well, but I still think there is something wrong if I have been riding a bike for a while! Very different to a 33. Far quicker, but also far torquier.

Fuel consumption is around 20mpg. Parts costs were hideous, but have got cheaper since Ferrari took over (£275 for a distributor cap Shocked

). Servicing is not that cheap. Plugs every 6000 miles, cam belt every 24000. Fuel filters every other service.

Ground clearance is nominal, around 6cm from the bottom of the sump to the ground.

Reliability wise it is not that bad but not that good. The fuse box causes problems. They get hot very quickly. The relays are difficult to buy (they look like standard ones, but the pins are a different way round). Some parts are easy to get from Fiat (fog lights are late Lancia Thema, £108 from Maserati or £38 from Fiat).

It is a 2.8L twin turbo V6 with rwd. Claimed ~250hp.

It is currently away having the bodywork sorted out (2 front wings, 1 rear wing, replacement doors and boot lid). It was bougth for everyday use but is now an occasional use toy. Trouble is the lack of space in the garage at the moment (14 bikes take up a fair amount of room).

lovely! i used to walk past one every day on the way to uni. it was white but basicly the same as yours.
only 250hp from 2.8 bi turbo?

they are very nice looking cars. how well do they handle? do you think they would take a bit of hard driving?
looking for a new drift car you see Very Happy

but i suspect that the repair bills would put it out of my price range.

Hi

250hp is not bad. If you want more power then go for a lhd 2L Ghibli which made 306hp, or the Cup version that made 330hp (but do not blow a turbo on a cup as they are roller bearing items and were about £4000 each).

The 222 is quite a short wheelbase car so it is likely that if you are not careful the first thing you will know about breaking traction with the rear end is that you are now using the mirrors to see where you are going. The 430 (4 door saloon, same engine) has a longer wheelbase and gives a lot more warning. The convertable has an even shorter wheelbase.

You should be able to find one for less than £8k. Trouble is the cheaper ones are worth more as spare parts. I would doubt ours will be worth that much even when all the work has been done to it. Make sure the clock works if you buy one, as they are about £700 new.

David Askew is a good source of parts and sometimes has cars for sale. None at the moment, but this 430 shows you what is available:-

Bike wise there are 12 in the garage, 2 living on the drive, another one away at a restoration place (need to get used to Whitworth spanners to put that one together) and I have just been given another one Very Happy

. Mainly small 125s, but also a GPZ500, FZ750, FZR600, Bimota YB10 and a played with Suzuki 1200 Bandit (153hp at the back wheel Shocked

).

I dont know what i would be driving if AR didnt exist but now i drive a new PUNTO HGT .The 33 is in relaxing mode now Razz

Well my dream car is a mclaren F1 gtr but at £635000 just abit out of my touch,still love an integrale what a car Wink

i had a hf turbo that was fun.
but now ive got my work cut out restoring a 1972 spider.got to stop going on EBAY Twisted Evil

and ive still got to pick it up from manchester not good as i live in margate.

I have actually thought of this before. For the similar cost, I would like to own an E30 BMW, or a Nissan Sunny. Everything else seems to be less fun. E30 for a better build quality, Sunny for the handling of rear dead axle.
