Does anyone know the standard combustion chamber volume(s) for a
1.7 16v

How accurate do you need to know? I've got the info for a standard head, but with larger valves fitted - I can't imagine that the valve change will make too much difference to the actual volume. If this is of use, let me know and I'll dig out the numbers from my build records.

Hi again,
Sorry for taking a while to get back ... busy weekend decorating when I would rather be building my engine! So trying to get it done ASAP ....
Anyway, the figures I have for the combustion chamber volumes are that all 4 cylinders are between 31.2 and 31.7 cc.
Just out of interest, why are you asking ... doing some interesting calcs or modifications?

Thanks for the figures Alan. It's actually for a friend of mine, Guy, who's a member but can't post at the moment. I think he's planning a blown motor. My standard 1.7 8v is fine for me.
Hope the engine build is going well.

That could be the right volume. I've done some calculation and the total volume inculding chamber, gasket (0.040') and the piston is 47.5 cc. |

Thanks for posting for me Rich 
Spoke to AH motorsports (who are about 3 miles from work for me) and the guy who runs it gave me 28.4cc as the volume in the head, and
11.5.cc as the volume in the deck/piston top.
Can't seem to find what the gasket thickness is but http://www.victorygaskets.com/AlfaRomeo.htm
seems to list a 1.7 8v gasket at 1.4mm thick
under 1.7 as 1.2mm thick
Are 1.7 8v head gaskets same as 1.7 16v?
Using the figures AH motorsports gave me and a say nominal compressed to 1.3mm gasket I come out with 10:1, which I believe is the quoted stock compression |

it should be same the engine block is the same....
