Hi
I have at home some bits that I want to put together and make an engine.
I have a 1351cc block with good pistons came from a 1992 33, and 2 good 1.5 Ti heads.
The Block was working with hydraulic tappets, and the heads from the 1.5 Ti are solid tappets.
I know that I can put these heads on this block, but I know that there are some differences on the cam-shaft pulleys (Solid and Hydraulic)...
Do I have to replace the 2 central pulleys (Small) with the ones came from the 1.5 Ti Block or are they the same?
For me they look the same....
What power will it produce?
The Stock 1.3 engine produces 88 Hp, so with this type of heads and especially with there cams, is it possible 95HP without any modifications?
Thank
Regards

Hi...
Acording to the parts catalog, the 2 central pulleys (Crankshaft), for the timming belts are the same for all boxer engines with 8v...
However there was an update in 06/87. The original parts #60503038 was replaced by Part #60504668. Most likely, it will make no difference, because even the original ones were indicated to 1.7 8v engines that were made already with hydraullic tappets...
As for the camshaft pulleys they also seem to be interchangeable.
They were also subjected to an update in 02/1987 for the right pulley and 7/87 for the left one.
The original part#60515036 for the right pulley was updated by #60739022.
The original left one was #60515037 and was changed by #60739023.
These original pulleys, were also fitted to series 2 1.7 8v engines.
The difference was in the belts.
The 1.2/1.3/1.5 engines used belts #60503002 while 1.7 used belts #60515034.
Regarding the power outputs, i guess that you will not gain that much...
The series 2 power output was 86 hp with solid tappets and 36 webber`s or dellortos. The series 3 1.3 had 88 hp, but had 40 webber`s or dellortos.
The power gain come from fuelling, not from the solid/hydraulic tappets...
However, if the size of the 1.5 valves are bigger (this, i`m not sure), and if you use the bigger set of carbs, maybe you can get the 90/95 hp mark...
Hope this helps

Hi Tino..
I guess that no, they are not interchangeable. The P4 uses rear diff part#60777821 and 1.5 used #60750396 with final drive 9/37 and #96615008 with final drive 9/35. The last one was also fitted in 1.3 sportwagon series 3.
The P4/Q4 diff was specific...
Sorry to give you bad news...

Thank´s for your reply...
The cams came from a 1.5 Ti...
Experts say that these are hot cams...
The normal 1.5 engine produced 95cv and the Ti produced 105 cv.
People says the the diference are the heads and specialy the cams...
And I have the complete haeds whith cams.
By the away, check this link...

Hi J.
thx for answering, I though so.
Do you have information on final drive of rear diff 1.7 8v 4x4? _________________ Tino Vatavuk

Hi Tino...
The series 3 uses 3 different diffs:
1.3 4x4 - Part#60777823-Final drive 9/37
1.7 8v 4x4 - Part#60777822-Final drive 9/35
1.7 16v - Part#60777821-Final drive 9/35
The series 1/2 uses also 3 diffs:
1.5 4x4 (Series 1/early series 2)-Part#60750396 Final drive 9/37
1.5 4x4 Part#96615008 Final drive 9/35
1.7 - Part#96615008 Final drive 9/35
The final drive is the same on 1.7 8v and 16v, but as the part # is different, i believe that, they are efectivelly different.
Best Regards
