Hi
Strange problem with the horn on my lhd 1.3 series 3. Works fine with the ignition off but will not work with the ignition on. Only thing I can think of is that there is a short to the steering column with the ignition turned on so that the horn cannot earth to it, but I would expect that to blow a fuse instantly
Any ideas of where to check?
All the best

Keith
I have had problems with a horn b4 where it would work if wired straight to the battery but not through the circuit (well it would let out a frail v.short bleat b4 stopping though you could hear the relay clicking (have you checked the relay??). It turned out to be corrosion in the horn itself and wd40 down the necks sorted it. Try swapping if you have a spare if not I'll send u one gratis.

Well, found the problem.
The steering column wasnt earthed. If you took the ignition key out then the column was earthed through the steering lock.
My fix has been to put a jubilee clip around the steering rack (which is rubber mounted so not earthed), and then put a spade connector on the end of jubilee click and run a wire from that to a proper earth point
Horn works fine now
All the best
