Hi,
From time to time, having weird problems with the car.
I am driving in motorway in 3rd or higher gear and the rpm drop (seriously drop) from 4,000 to 500 (liek the engine dies) and then immediately goes back to life!

Any ideas why?

the car is series 3, 1.7 8v injection..

thanks,

Hi,
Had this problem too although not on my 33 (bread knifes Peugeot 306) intermitantly the engine would die/ rev counter drop and then as you said come straight back to life Confused Had a look under the bonnet and it turned out the earth strap from engine to chassis had broken.. simple. Not saying this is your problem but it's worth a look. Hope this helps
Lee

First place I'd look is to check whether there are any splits in rubber tubing after the air flow meter?
