I have found a company in Worcester that do fibre glass wings. Does anyone know where I can get other panels - boot lid, doors, bonnet, etc... ?

No pictures from your private collection, please..! Wink Well, if you wake up next to a girl whose last name is Lopez, Electra, Jolie etc every morning, I'd might be interested, but if not, I'd be glad just to see some pictures of the wing you mentioned! Very Happy

Obviously they don't mention anything about a wing for a 33 on their homepage, but you have heart that they can produce such one?!

Hi,

Fitted a pair of Sprint wings from this company some years back, as steel wings for the Sprint were about £250 each at the time, and the fibreglass ones were about £25 each i think.

The fit wasn't brilliant, I had to drill all the holes, and there were no 'gutter' channels on the top so i had to make some out of electrical conduit to avoid water running over into the engine bay.

They did paint up very well though, and with the bumper and trims in place, you wouldn't really know they weren't steel.

I would personally fit steel panels if available, but I guess fibreglass would be good for racing.

In Germany there is a company producing lightweight panels:

Website: www.east-racing.de

Front door 4,5kg 195 Euro each
Rear door 4,5kg 195 Euro each
Bonnet without ventilation 5kg 195 Euro
Bonnet with ventilation 6kg 235 Euro
Rear wing 2kg 130 Euro
Zender Frontspoiler 190 Euro

I don't know if they ship to UK or how well the items fit the car.

Hi,
by reducing weight what kind of performance improvement have you seen?

and does it change the balance of the car?

Not sure about whether it would affect handling.... but surely it's a great replacement for the rust!

Hi... Very Happy
For track use, lightweight panels are great, but for road use, i wouldn`t put them on...
These cars are already fragile, and in an eventual crash their resistance to the blow will be not the same as if they were using steel Confused .

over the next 4-5 months i'm making super light weight panels for the 33 series 3. i'm only really doing it for my drift car project but if other people want parts from the moulds then i could do them with about a 2 week build time.

i'm doing both the front doors,
covers for the rear doors (looks like doors but dont open)
boot lid (4 pins to fix, no hinges)
bonnet with hinge mount as normal
front wings
front bumper
rear bumper
and a sun roof blanker panel.

i've not started making the moulds yet but i should have the first parts by some time in late september/early october.
the aim of the parts is pure race weight saving. not really useful for street use as they will be thin and light.
for my car i'm making the parts out of carbonfibre, except for the bumpers. but i could do them in fibreglass just to cut cost for other people.

Hi,

good luck with the panels- reckon you've got your work cut out but should really make a difference to the car. I'm a great advocate of weight loss- makes your horses work properly, less stress on brakes suspension and really makes the car handle. Another of my current projects is a '67 Triumph spitfire with fibreglass front end and boot lid- the doors and rear wings are made from a fibre/epoxy honeycombe material used in helicopters. Really strong, superlight and the panel quality is better than the original steel ones. That's everything is glass fibre except floor and sills. (Best to keep them metal really...) Motor is a 2.5 straight 6 mid mounted.....

My 33 is really more of an everyday car than the spitty, however, if you're making the panels I'm always interested- any idea on prices?

Good luck, Jim.

not sure about price till i start doing it really. but counting in my head as i type this....

doors 80 each
rear door covers 35 each
bonnet 100
front wings 30 each
front bumper 70
rear bumper 70
sun roof cover 20

roughly.. but i havent even started making them yet. still doing parts for our nissan drift car atm. but i'll report back to show off the new panels when i have made mine and then i can offer them to anyone else who wants them.

but i'm not going to compromise on weight. they are going to be racing panels. they should be fine for road use if you dont intend to hit anything ever and dont want windows that open. but i am thinking of making a manual window fitment for the drivers side.
