Hi

In my Mk I. 33, the roof lamps are driven through a relay, which placed under the fuse box. In fact, it's a bimetal switch, with three terminals, - manufactured by Sipea, number 0944 (?) - it holds the light on, for seconds, after the doors are closed. Now I cannot find replace part for it. Does anybody have an idea, which common relay manufacurer have something similar in Europe?

My Sprint had a similar relay, number is Sipea (or Siper?) 0948.

The fine heater wire for the bimetallic strip burnt out frequently. I got fed up with this, as when this happens the light does not come on at all, and it was hard to find.

I replaced it with a standard relay, so the light just goes off when the doors are closed.

This will not work if a standard relay is simply plugged into the socket. The connections on the back of the socket must be changed around, and an extra connection added, to suit the wiring of the standard relay used.

I also have an electronically timed relay, but this also is not a direct replacement. It will work if used together with the replacement relay I have, but I haven't yet got around to fitting a base for it.
