Hi
The double headlamp conversion, exists for the series 1/2(1983??-1989 cars), although is very dificult to get the parts, to do the conversion...
For the series 3, i never saw any conversion made...
So probably, you will have to custom build it yourself...
All the best

For a series 3 you will need a new bonnet, front bumper and grill. Series 2 parts will fit your series 3 but a lot more work than series 1 or 2... |

Thanks for the help guys. Gonna see if I can make something myself, using the vacuum former at uni to get a shape based on the standard headlight, then maybe get the headlamps for the sprint. and shape the form to accommodate these and then go from there!
Great christmas project!
Does anyone know where I can find information regulations re headlight alignment for mot, as my makeshift will not have an adjustment in it.
Cheers. |

You could make something up for the headlight alignment adjustment I'm sure!!!!
Rear of light on the right, on the left is the profile.
Attach headless bolts onto the rear of the headlight housing. Make a cross shaped peice of metal, which the headlight is attached to. At the ends of the cross you can drill holes (a bit larger than the bolts) to allow the cross (with the headlight attached) to sit on the bolts.
Then a nut each side of the cross, on the bolts to allow you to align the headlamp!!!!
Whatcha think!?

Hi,
The Quad lamps on the minari kit (33 based) i built with my Father (10 years ago now!!) use a similar idea to yours Bobber.
From memory i think each of the 4 corners of each outer lamp has a stud attached. These studs pass thru individual brackets with nuts/ locknuts allllowing the lamp to be turned in and out and up and down.

There was Hella quad lamp desing for 33, and there are Citroens with quad (GS,CX,BX) and quad+2 lamps (XM) if you wanna try and salvage some from scrap yards. _________________ Tino Vatavuk

Thanks for your help and ideas!
CHeers for the effort on the diagrams bobber!
That looks like quite an easy way of doing it. Salvaging some old citroen quads might be a good starting point too!
I really dont have time to start this project yet tho! Maybe during the summer when I get a bit more spare time (in the daylight!!!)
I will definately get pics up if I manage to succeed, and will also keep the mould should anyone else be interested in trying the same!
Regards

Hi Matt,
I know of 2 sets of quad lights for the type 2 for sale in Holland, one is new and the other one was used on a series 3 33. The new set is EUR 200 and the used one is cheaper, don't know the price.
I could sent you the contact details of the sellers if you're interested? _________________ Cheers,

Matthew,
you have PB, the lights will look something like this on a series 3:
This still needs some work but looks different and agressive, remember you have to alter, front bumper and grill. _________________ Cheers,

hmm, altering the front bumper and grille was not my intention though. I think I might have to set myself the challenge.
Will keep the contacts in mind and will decide by the end of the week what to do.
Thanks again everyone for your help! |
