Hi Chaps! Great weekend wunnit!
John, I've found the site about tuning up an Alfa fuel injection system :
http://www.hiperformancestore.com/L-jetronic.htm
Although it's written for the old style Alfa GTV, and is for the Jetronic (when you have MoTronic) - it's a very good article, and most of the stuff in it applies to you guys. There is a good description and pictures of clicking the air flow meter which is what you're after.
Note, you do not have an extra air solenoid, or idle pipe, as these are controlled by one pipe into the front of the inlet manifold and an electrical connector into the vessel by the ECU.
Cheerz,

Good luck!

Yeah, good to meet you all in person and see your characterful cars. Amazing how different each 33 is. Hope you all had a good time, though we weren't impressed with the organisation and comments have been made. Maybe see you at National Alfa Day, which will be better, though Spa Italia, Le Mans and Nurburgring 24 hr are all on the same weekend which is a bit stupid. (I mentioned this in the last owners club magazine, but it was edited out.) _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV

Hi Paul
It was a great day,but as the others know i was not happy with the fact that we where not let in to the main area.but there was a volvo a ford and a vw camper in there.hows that work but then we blaimed bob for that .i did like some of the alfas there tho.the star for me was the AHM SZ with 3.5 v6 loved it. i liked Edwards 33,that was mad and went very well at the end of day.which i did think was quite funny.as everybody left, they blasted down the tarmack.even the old boys in there spider's great end to the day!!

Yes, I will write about this in the next registrar article. Yeah, hopefully Ed will have his car at the Donington track day this year if he doesn't crash it at Nurburgring first. Good flux capacitor by the way. _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV

John,
You must get tired of testing the HP increase on your driveway.

I tried it at a 33 1,7 8v jetronic. 5 clicks clockwise 1st but finally ended 4 clicks anti clockwise than the original position. the spring at my car at least softens by turning it anti clockwise... tried it? |

Tried this - 5 teeth (clicks) anti-clockwise. There is a noticeable improvement in low and mid-range torque. The car is easier to get away from stand-still without bogging down. Don't know what it does to power or to performance at high revs yet but we shall see. Increasing fuel may actually decrease power but it is definately nicer to drive around town. Don't know what it does to fuel economy or emissions either.
A word of warning. The "w" spring needed to be levered up after its retaining bolt was loosened. I had marked the gear wheel before I released it. If you don't mark it, the wheel can slip as it is under spring tension like a watch spring and you will lose the position. There is no other way to find the original position if you have not marked it.

actually at my car the noticable change was at hi revs actually had bigger top speed...As far as concernes fuel consumption it was the same or no noticable change.of course i marked the original position...As i readed the more loose the spring is the more rich fuel u have....and if u try u have loose spring by turning it anti-clockwise... |

How is the 'W' spring accessed in the Jetronic scenario?
Do you need to take the ECU off with the four top screws? Does this reveal the 'W'? Are there any wires between the airflow meter and the ECU or are they in the loom (i.e. from the comb connector connection).
Thanks!

Take off the 4 screws, pull the upper part, and there is a plastic cap sucked with silicone.take it of and there is the W spring |
