Had water leakage the last month.
Today the water pump gave away.
Stopped the car asap and break down assistance transferred to the garage.

Knowing that water pump access needs cambelt change, i am considering giving the car away and buying a 16V.

I bought the car 3 1/2 years ago at 53,000 miles and now has nearly 90,000 miles. Most miles done on the A1.

Major Work done in the car:
-steering rack 3 years ago
-front suspension (sachs) 1-2 year ago
-front break pads and disks 1-2 year ago
-rear brakes Oct05
-drivers cv joint 2 years ago
-cambelt/righ head gasket last june
-Clutch done by previous owner.

Car is not a good looker, but it is a very good runner. you could always feel that it could go 110-120+ mph..

Would be keen to give to someone, who would continue running it or at least use it to keep another nice clean-fast alfa 33 going on.

Will update tomorrow with status from the garage.
Many thanks,
A

Hi,
Had fixed the water leakage below and was running the car the last 3 months.

Today the cambelt went and the engine seized. Sadly i wont be fixing the car.

If anyone wants the car for spare parts/ or to fix, please let me know.
Car is in garage in Hertsfordshire and will give it for free to whoever is interested.
It would be good if even the spare parts would keep another 33 on the road..

Thanks,
A

Hi guys, I am on the scrounge/search... I recently bought my first Italian car (ok, second if you include 3 months with a crummy Punto) and it needs help. Like me. I'm on the lookout for:
both wing mirrors (manual),
good engine mounts,
front shocks,
headlight squirters,
fog light lenses,
decent workshop manual,
maybe a towbar (I know, I know, but it saves putting rubbish into what is quite a respectable car - it can go in the trailer. along with the kids)
And if anyone knows why the "alfa control" system would be trying to tell me that a sidelight is out... when it isn't!... FOR GOD'S SAKE TELL ME!! IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS!!
Many thanks. If anyone is in the Croydon or Purley areas, and would like to meet up for a drink, let me know.
Regards, Alex. 07714 335219.

Aha - your sidelight problem is probably due to using the wrong bulb. I had exactly the same problem, you need to ensure that the bulb has the correct wattage (I think) - I'll have a look and let you know but 20w seems to stick in my mind

Hope that helps

That would be helpful - I can understand how that would screw up the Alfa-control (oh, the irony) system, if it's anything like the system on my other car (1992 Mercedes 300TE 4-matic), which works by some form of current measurement & comparison. And often gets confused by daft things like slightly dirty contacts. The sidelights look the same brightness from outside, but... Confused I've just lent it to a friend for the weekend. PS any suggestions for names? lol

Right - sidelights should have 10w bulbs - hope that solves the problem
