At the lever (inside the car) end there is a bobbble ( Wink ) which fits inside the lever. You could try pulling this out and pulling it with a pair of pliers!?

Perhaps the cable has stretched - meaning the lever travel is not enough to release the catch!?

No there is no secret way thats why there is emergency pull fishing cable along with normal cable.

Mission imposible mk 33
Since bonnet is very quality hard stuff, you can lift one corner near windshield glass enough to insert some kind of long hard but flexible tool between bonnet and chasis rubber seal.
With it in right place you can pull/push hatch latch/lever until you open it.

yeah I have tried pulling the bobbbble lol at the end of the cable. to no avail its not going anywhere, I will get a burly mate to give it the special treatment but at the moment its looking bleak, does anyone know if the emergency cable runs through the same rubber grommet as the normal cable, ive never paid too much attention to be honest! check my pics too for the beast in question!

No, fishing plastic emergency cable goes parallel to ruber shield of wire cable. It is not in same tube.
