Hi,

had a low speed 'coming together' with a pole on a trolley store at homebase on friday Embarassed and the only obvious point of contact was the NSR light, as it had a scuff on it. However it pushed the light in on its right by about an inch under the tailgate lip!

Having stripped the trim out of the boot, and removed the lights i could see a slight lump in the rail/ slim box section running the width of the rear panel. A few deft blows with a club hammer onto wooden block, and all is well again. Very Happy Even the scuff on the lens tcut off- hooray.

Renewed enthusiasm to get on with the list of 33 jobs now: service, waxoyling, respray nsf door (rushed last year and been upsetting me since), new front shocks and pan bearings, and fitting bobbbers surplus brand new headlights.

John

Done 2 weeks ago, and going tomorow to the bodyshop

Also low speed contact with a electricity pole

Bellamachinna, that looks nasty, will soon be fixed though.

That's the kind of damage i expected to see given the bang it made on mine, i got away very lightly.

Let's blame the 33's poor rear visibility, all those old magazine reviews talked about Wink

Cheers,

John

You guys are lucky. A collision with the rear of my 33 to that effect would have been the end of it.

You see - I had some bubbling of rust in that area - and poked my finer through it (no joke!).

Happy days!

Glad you like the lights John,

Bob

Well, left the car today on the shop, to be fixed...

It`s going to have the rear wing panel, removed and replaced with a new one.
The rear bumper, will also be replaced.

As the car red paint is already faded, it will be completly resprayed, so i will be without the car for 2 weeks...

Cant wait to pick it back, with fresh paint, and shiny... (and with my wallet a bit more empty Laughing )

Looking back at the "incident", i knew that the electricity pole was there, and i manouvered to avoid it, but when i thought that i made it (and with the pole right on the blind spot), i kept going until i hit it...
If you notice, if i turned the steering wheel a bit more (10cm maybe) i wouldn´t have touched the damn thing.

All the best

On the first or second day I had my 33, I backed it into a metal pole. The pole was not that tall so I couldn't see it out the back window (surprise, surprise!)..
Only minor damage to the bumper though.

I've also had rust holes through my car in the tail light area, along with one or two other areas.
So I must be a fool - ignoring my car's limited future lifespan I've just had semi-race brake pads put in and had compression and leakdown tests done. Tests came back good, despite clattering from motor, so onward, to death and glory!

Hi,

Bellamachina, when you have your 33 ready after the respray don't forget to post some photos... It would be nice to see a shiny 33 just out of the body shop. Very Happy

Regards,

Hi all... Very Happy

Yesterday, i went to the bodyshop, to see the progress on my car...

The rear wing was not replaced, as i was told. They managed to beat the metal into shape, and is already aligned, without filler.
Its going to need some filler, just to remove some imperfections, but only superficial.
I was surprised, because the wing, "backed up" almost 5 cm, and was blocking the rear door...

At least, it will save me some money, because the new panel was going to cost 400€ alone.

Also, the "dings" on the doors and hood were removed, and they were starting to sand the old paint down...

Cant wait by next week... Twisted Evil

All the best

As promised here are the pics of my car, taken today, after picking it up from the bodyshop.

As i found it...

The car was filthy... The dashboard, seats, engine..... All was covered with dust from sanding the old paint down...
So the first action to be taken, was to clean it up, to really make it shine...

Now, all that is left to do, is to put the rear badges, put some nice stickers on the front fenders with the Green cloverleafs, and wait that something else brokens, to fix up again Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

All the best

Hi,

Looks great! Very Happy

Bought the primer/ basecoat/laquer to paint to do my NSF door and spoiler last week, so now can't wait to get it on the car.

Hoping to take the car to Spring Alfa Day, all tarted up.

John

Bit concerned that the gaps where it was damaged around the light fitting is still all wrong - whats going on with that?

Hi...

Yes, the gaps are not OK. The guy in the body shop, straightened the rear panel, but didnt tested with the rear light in place.

Without the rear light, and with primer, it didnt show any major imperfection, so they painted the car as it was.

When fitting the rear lights, and with the gloss paint, it reaveled that the job was a mess...
I`m also not satisfied with the job, and i already went to the garage, to complain about that.
So, the car is going back to the body shop to have the rear panel straightened again and resprayed, in about 2 weeks.

For now, its sort of ok, but it will be better...

All the best
