....an engine swap
After purchasing another 33 on ebay recently for silly money, i took the engine out, cleaned it all up, sprayed it a nice silver, took my engine out n put the new one in its place. Ive never taken an engine out before n i took 2 out n put one back, in 3 days. Im pretty chuffed with myself:)
All i need now is some olio as the oil cap says lol.
Heres the pics.

You make it seem so easy!
Maybe I should stop worrying and just remove my engine's heads and get them reconditioned. It would be a good time to sort out all the dodgy-looking corroded hose clips etc and get my engine looking smart.. _________________ "Now, all that is left to do ... is wait that something else brokens, to fix up again!" |

Hey Alex,
I noticed you split the gearbox out so you could take the engine out the top rather than drop it down....
How was this way of doing it?!?!? Was it ok?

It looked easier to take it out the top than drop it down. i thought id have to remove the drive shafts, manifold n maybe wishbones if i wanted to drop it down.
It was pretty fiddly to get the engine off the shaft of the gearbox n back on again, n also had to wriggle it around to get it out the top as it only just fits lol. But apart from that, it was pretty easy. _________________

I am not surprised you feel pretty chuffed with yourself Alex, it certainly looks like a job very well done. I always find it far more satisfying to get a result like that when I have done the work myself than forking out a fist full of dosh for somebody else to do it _________________ 1993 Range Rover 300 Tdi |
