Well I dusted off my old computer and got my favourites sorted,
remembered my old password and hey presto here I am... Long time since I've been here.

Anyhows I'm currently driving a 146 16v and on startup it runs like a pig sounds like it's on 3 cylinders until it warms up, which is taking some time because it's thermostat is stuck open.

Any ideas ?

Okay pull off leads by distributor with insulated pliers and see which one makes no difference, so you know which cylinder is not firing then check lead, plug, blown head gasket etc.

Hi,

If it runs smoother when warmed up, could be temp sender to ecu at fault.

If its using lots of fuel, possibly the lambda probe (oxygen sensor).

The temperature sender for the ECU and for the dash are separate and different. There is also ANOTHER for the temp warning light.

Someone better than me with the 16 valve will tell you where it is.

Think the ecu temp sender is near the nsf throttle body, kinda on the inside, opposite the injector if you know what i mean.
