I run my series 3 16v cat with 98 RON. It goes so much better, runs smoother and just overall makes the car better. Id suggest atleast use premium ( 95 RON ), but not 91 RON.

98 ron did seem to improve my carbed S2 1.7, but it was tuned for running on 98 ron.

Power didn't seem to increase, but at max revs in top, i did get about 5mph out of it when running 98 ron, compared with running 95. However, again note, my carbs were tuned with 98 ron in the tank.

Hi

It should be set up to use normal 95 RON fuel. The 33 can be set up to use 95 or 98 RON fuel by changing a "relay shaped device" (or 91 / 95 RON with a cat).

If the car is set up to run on 95 RON fuel then you will gain nothing by running it on 98 RON fuel (and it makes no difference at all to how my P4 runs).

It is also possible that the car has been chipped and so needs 98 RON fuel

All the best

Keith
