The pump for my powersteering is realy making lots of noise.
We found some dirt in the oil, which I think is from the pump.
What can I do to stop the noise.
Can anyone also tell me if the pump from the 1.7 8V the same is as in the 1.7 16V.

The power steering pumps are the same for 8 and 16 valves.

Do you know eventualy why it makes those loud noises whilst steering?

I take it you don't mean screeching from the belt slipping! Pump can make bad noises if not enough power-steering fluid or if using the wrong kind of lubricant?

It's not the belt.
The liquid is also correct. I'm using Dexron II.
It makes the noise only whilst steering. I know that on older cars, there is always a slight noise (very quiet) whilsdt steering.
But on my 33 it is way to loud.

Hi,
been experiencing exactly the same problem on a 164 lately, turned out to be a faulty pump ; relplacement of the item cured the noise while braking.
