After an hour or so a motorway cruising I find my gearchanges get stiffer. When cold, the gearchanges are easy but stiffen up when hot. I might have asked this before, but is it just due to a worn 'box? Do other people get this problem?

RBL, how long ago was the new engine and gearbox last put in, I ask this as i think i remember you writing about a bigger engine swap?. I might be wrong but after the bolts on the linkage get warm they might expand a tad, might be worth loosening the bolts a little as they are on nylock nuts. Wink

Hi

A few people I know who have had this problem. Normally fixed with a change of gearbox oil (decent synthetic gearbox oil).

All the best

Keith.

Thanks guys. I thought it might be the linkage, but when detached from the gearbox selector rod, it's really smooth and easy. I changed to a good semi oil and added an additive (ZX1). Other than trying a full synthetic oil, which is an expensive experiment, I'm not sure what's needed other than a rebuild.

Hi

Synthetic gearbox oil isn't that expensive.

The guys who ran Minari had a 33 which after a run down the motorway needed 2 hands to get out of gear. New synthetic oil solved the problem.

All the best

Keith
