I vaguely remember, on the old discussion list, someone having a template/file for making your own dial kits for the 33. Has anyone still got the file?
I am after the file for a s3 33 (P4 if you have it but I can mod to suit) in MPH. I've got adobe photoshop at home so the file can be in any format that will work on that.
I presume you take the file to a helpful printers who will print it onto the appropiate plastic.
Please help if you can, as it would finish my cabin off a treat. _________________ Regards

In the UK, it is illegal not to have MPH showing....
Anyone got a UK version? |

I've got a LHD UK registered 16v that has a MOT and only KMH on the speedo.
No one ever had a problem with my old escort that only had KMH on the speedo.
Maybe I only ever take my car to be MOTd at the 'right' place!

Don't say thanks too quickly, it taken me over 12 months to get my P4 project going, and I still haven't got bearings or heads back yet!!!! _________________ Regards

Same for my 1.3 33, and same for several of my bikes. It is still technically illegal but I have never got any hassle over it
All the best

Hi Matt,
I have a P4 and have a set of white dial templates with MPH, so if you want them drop me an email and I'll send them over.
Cheers

Does anybody on here know the kind of plastic that has to be used to replace the black dials? I have the template files and I have also replaced all the tacky green bulbs with Blue LEDS although i had to put in a voltage resistor for this as the bulbs get 12v and the LEDs pop if they get more than 4V(Range liked is around 3.5V) Any help would be greatly appreciated _________________ 5 Alfa 33's, 2 Suds God there is no help for me

Does anyone have the template file for a MPH white dial template. The links above no longer exist. Also what material would I ask the print shop to print them onto?
Cheers. |

Graham,
You need to limit the current to the LED to around 20mA. So a 560 ohm resistor would be fine, you should not use LEDs by themselves. _________________ Scott Sander

Thanks Scott,
I already have the correct resistors in with the LEDS else they would have blown by now and they work a treat ive also changed all the bulbs in all the switches(Power windows, rear wipers etc to be blue LEDS again using resisitors. My message in relation to this post however was about the correct material to use for the white face guages _________________ 5 Alfa 33's, 2 Suds God there is no help for me

Toad, just tried to go to the site you mentioned for the MPH dials, and I keep getting the no such site message - is it still up and running, or can you send the files to us?

Real shame those templates were only in kmh. Does anyone have the mph templates on their computer? Also when you take the needle off the speedo or rev counter (to put the white dials on) how do you know where to put them back on the mounting pin ? ie. How far round ? You might be doing 70mph and your speedo would only be saying 50 for instance. As to what material, guess you could just print out on card and then face the card with some of that sticky clear vinyl ? _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV
