Anyone tried these, i am about to fit them, if not i will let you know what they are like..
I didn't want to get any uprated ones as i want to do the big brake conversion and want to fit new pads to new disks.

Keith, is there any reason why the part in brackets at the end of that address isnt included? I tried enclosing the whole address with URL but it didnt work

Al Feredo DS 3000's or 2500 pads are best, they are a little expensive and have no sensors, also they produce alot more brake dust but if its better braking you want then these are the ones you want. Wink

I wanted to get the 2500's in the past but never got round to it as they are expensive. I have opted for standard cheap new pads as i want to fit new pads to a new big brake conversion and if i were to buy them now it would mean putting used pads on new disks.

I'm pretty convinced new discs, pads and brake fluid will do (for myself). But then I've already got the vented discs standard on my SportWagon.

Haven't tried them with any sticky rubber so I can't tell. But with the word from users of pagid on Alfa 75, they cost, but last (and brakes like their racecars should).

I find the standard oem set-up absolutely pants, brake fade big time and takes ages to come back, this was only after 2 - 3 hard fast stops.

I have tried a lot of different pad and disk combos in the past and found 40 or 60 grove red dot with race pads the best but i havent tried tarrox yet. I only got brake fade once and i was driving hard and it came back quickly. I tried mintex pads, not bad, never got round to trying the ds2500 though. I have given up and will go to big brake conversion, when i can.

I have use Tarox 40 groove discs front and rear with their strada (fast road) pads. They're really good but fade after prolonged use which I don't think you'll ever cure on standard set up as the discs are too small really. As Al says, the answer is a conversion, what are your plans Al?

I would like to do what was suggested on this here site.
The standard disks off a 145/6 20L TS (i think) and the bracket made by some one, making use of the original 33 calliper and some hot race pads, like the DS 3000's or 2500. If no good then the same disks but 40 / 60 groove.
I have already got the space saver off a 145/6 in case of a flat and have 15" wheels, but not a 15" spare wheel, hence the space saver.

A few years back I fitted Tarox Sport Japan crossdrilled and grooved disc's with the Ferodo DS 2500 pads, bled the system with some dot5 fluid and they were great for about a month. I then after a couple more years fitted Pagid disc's and pad's and again bled the system through and these were really crap . Anyway having fitted some 304mm disc's and twin pot race calipers and the support for the master cylinder, the pedal is almost as good as my 147. I do feel the 33's brakes could be better, but like the car's character the brakes are the same certainly what I call "progressive". The next thing to do would be to replace the master cylinder for a seperate clutch and brake system and I reckon this would sort the response we all would like. Oh and maybe fit some cold air ducting to reduce the fade. Wink

Not sure on that in particular, but the forum software tries to recognise thigns that could be a link and makes them links (rather than plain text). Sometimes with odd characters it screws up.

Hi all,

I'm keen to sort my brakes out too but I'd like to keep the car looking fairly standard (ie original 14" wheels). Presumably this GTA brake conversion will need at least 16/17" wheels to fit over the disks?

Would I be mad to consider trying to mount a big brake conversion in-board? Does anyone know if this has been done?

I gave the brakes a testing last night and i think they are shot now. I got brake fade, however, i have had brake fade in the past and there was loads of heat coming from the disk. This time there was a feint smell but hardly any heat, could they just have glazed, could the brake fluid boiled even there seemed to be no heat, maybe the pads are absorbing all the heat? MY disks are a little thin, could this be a cause? The pedal is longer and now hard and brakes are pants

Hi

That you have a solid pedal suggests it isn't water contamination of the brake fluid. I suspect the pads are shot, possibly with the disks contributing.

How weird is this, it is back to how it was before after a day or so. I guess the pads glazed as there was hardly any heat when i got brake fade.

The brakes have seemed ok but I didn’t push them. I replaced my disks today and will have to wait again for them to bed in on these disks.
I forgot to pump the pedal before I set off and scared myself when I came to stop

Yeah they look foooooked (worn as i can see a prominent lip at the outside edge) funny colour as well, has the disk been in contact with copper grease or any tyre shine stuff?.
