Hi .

In the beginning of September i bought a series one 33 .

( now i have one of each series!!! Twisted Evil )

The car had some rust, and as i cant send the car to a garage to take care of the rust, i'll just protect and repare it for now, to keep it from rusting further .

I plan to send it to a full body repair in maybe an year an year and half...

( my wife just freaked out when i bought another 33, so i cant use any more of our savings on it, i'll have to save for a while for that job... )

When it arrived, before doing anything to it :

Rear drivers side :

Front "other" side :

I then managed to buy a complete interior from another one, with seats in better condition, a QVs, front grill, and proper working back lights .

I also got the metal part that rusted on the boot :

And started uncovering to beging the repair .

I used a dril to remove the rust :

First i used a special paint to apply over the rusted surface, a corrosion stop thing :

When it dried, i applied the primer :

I reckon!
You're dedicated / brave / crazy and I hope you didn't pay much for that car... Shocked
Last weekend I was at a scrapyard taking parts off a series 2 car, and it was much less rusty than your new series 1.
I see the series 1 cars just say 'Alfa Romeo' on the engine bay nameplate rather than 'Alfa Fiat Lancia Industriale SPA'. Cool

When i bought it, i never dreamed how it was...

On a weekend trip, i saw it parked like abandoned on a street, and imediatly knew it had to be mine...

I didnt care about it's condition...

It's part of a "childhood" dream come true : one 33 of each .

Now i have one 33 of each series, but hope one day to have one 33 of each model of each series !! Shocked

Crazy, i think it's crazy the best word for it...

( at least it's what my wife thinks... Laughing )

This was 220€ . I would have payed 500€ if he asked!!

( good thing he didnt, i wouldn't want to have to explain to my wife that... Razz )

I noticed that to, about the nameplates...

The 156 it's a great car, we cant even try to compare it to a 33, but driving a 33 it's just beautifull, i cant explain it, i just cant ! Embarassed

I really like to think i am !!

When i was 20, and got my first 33, i allways wanted to go on a europe road trip...

I now still think of it, but 12 years later, and some really confortable cars before, i really dont know if it's still a good Ideia... Laughing

Hi all!

SPA this year it's probably out of the question, but who knows next year...

Well, it was 3 days weekend here, and as on saturday some kid with a Saxo Cup smashed my SWs front on a roundabout, i stayed home all weekend, and managed to do some work on the 33 .

I finished the front : still needs some laquer, but for a first time i'm proud!!

Razz

I also disassembled the used back lights i bought, cleaned them, sanded the contacts that were a bit rusty, e fitted new lamps .

I'll probably mount them this evening when i arrive at home .

I also did the same job on one head light, but it was late, i didnt finish the other one...

Update from last weekend :

I covered the chassis bumber supports entrance holes with polyurethane foam, so no humidity enters there :

The original ground wires connected to the chassis, but to prevent faulty grounds, i changed the "o" shaped terminal with some flat ones, that will connect to the loom with some flat ones to, and on that point i'll maintain the "o" shaped terminal do still make contact with the chassis .

It's beggining to look more like a 33 !!! Cool
