Just come home from holiday where I spent some time in Italy, Spain and Portugal. I was 'expecting' to see a few 33's about as the climate is a tad kinder to them but all I saw was a series 3 sportwagon. I think they're nearly dead on the continent too guys. |

When in Malta in 1998 (sh*t that was nearly 12 years ago!) there were still quite a few suds and sprints in the city. They looked fine but faded and dusty at the time, but I think Malta started having Mots around 2000 which probably killed 'em off

It's all these Euro-scrappage schemes guys... killing the cars off.
Because of EU rules about scrap yards, they don't even end up there.

There are plenty around. You have to look in the yards or fields at the back, not on the road _________________ Dick Flower, Nr. Carcassonne. Hi...
There are still some 33 around. I`m in Portugal, and although they are becoming rare sights, there are still some left on the road.
The loved ones, are used as "weekend toys", and the rest are very tatty ones that will meet a sad destiny
I`ve seen a perfect S16v Q.V., without rust and very clean, beeing dismantled and sold to parts, because the owner took the scrappage scheme, and bought himself a new Golf.
Even good cars, are used for parts, because Fiat/Lancia/Alfa, dont sell some parts for them anymore. _________________ All'interno della mia macchina, vi sedete, tenete sopra e CHIUDETE IN SU... |

I think we should all get together and give that bloke a good kicking
I mean scrapping a perfectly good (and extremely rare) 33 to buy a boring vw its totally inexcusable. _________________ Presntly own

Just had a weeks holiday in Greece.
Landed, collected the rental car, drove out of the airport
and coming towards me was a dark red 33 16v, couldn't
believe my eyes.
Saw a further four 1.4ie's on the island of lefkada during the week _________________ Presntly own

Quite surprisingly Greek rural areas are full of 33 s as these were mostly used in towns during their hey days. Many of these 33s were sent to villages by their owners who lived in the cities. _________________ Thanassis Gritsopoulos
