I'm just in the process of adding some extra, better placed accessory sockets. I'm picking up 12v from one of the unused brown plugs behind the ash tray. Anyone know what these are meant to be for? Aircon controls was my only guess.

May be for the Alfa control unit.......assuming you haven't got it.

What's the Alfa control unit when it's at home?

One plug is about six pin, the other three. I've picked up 12v on a pinkish white wire at one end of the six pin. Oddly neither seem to have any earth despite the three pin having a thickish black wire going to it.

I asked teh same question here, 1/2 way down.

you mean these ones?

I used the pink wire i think for an off the ignition for my battery and oil pressure gauges, i also pigybacked off the light for the cigar as well so the gauges light up when the lights are turned on.

It's a panel that lights up if your coolants low, bulbs are out and doors open warning thingy (not sure of all the ones but you get the picture) . Not sure if you can retro fit them as the coolant bottle is different for a start and I guess there are other sensors your car will be missing?

I think it was an optional extra.
My first 33, a series 2 1.5ti had it fitted but Ive never had one with it since.
I remember it had a special dipstick to give a warning when the oil level was low and also a coolant level indicator, the brake pads were wired to it as well.
There was a warning light for most things as I recall.
Anyway unless you can source all the special sensors its not really worth fitting... unless of course it just sits there looking pretty.

My previous 33 had this on it, although that photo is of the series II version. The series III version is much nicer with a nice picture of the car and warning lights all over it.

Do you want one??? Well, mine did nothing but report things wrong when they were fine and failed to report quite major issues.... I wouldn't want one again.

Hi

The AlfaControl was fitted even to series 1 cars. The 1.5 Quadrifóglio Oro.
These cars also had a trip computer...
From memory, these had one bulb less than on series 2. Cant remember exactly what was the function that was added on s2 cars.
On s2 cars, they were fitted to 1.5TI and 1.7IE cars. The sportwagon, with these engines also had it.
They had a green light and a red one, and bulbs that signaled low coolant level (a float sensor was included in the expansion reservoir), low windscreen washer fluid (also a float sensor on the washer tank), low oil level ( the dipstick had a special tip and two wires comming from the top, that had to be disconnected whenever was needed to remove the thing), a bulb that indicated that the rear stop lights were not functioning correctly, and finally a bulb to indicate that some other bulb on the main panel was blow...
When the ignition key was turned, the green light should lit up...
But normally, the red, one was the one that would be seen.
If you had low fuel level (and the yellow light on the dash), it was enough to give a warning.
On s3 cars is basically the same without the red an green lights and a much clear design
Not sure but i think that tey were only fitted to 1.7IE and Boxer 16v (The "confort" version, without the quadrifóglio verde)
