Hi guys, i'm in a strange situation with my burgandy sw, i love the car to bits & done loads of work to it, as a result it now looks amazing & i am very pleased with the car. It flew through its MOT recently & is in the prime of it's life. But......... there is another Alfa enthusiast in Rugby who has frequently made it clear he wants to buy it off me, "it's not for sale & i couldn't easily replace it" has been my answer to him for the last 18 months. His last offer for the car is £5000, which has tempted me but i'm still not jumping at the sale. I know it's a more than a fair offer, but i'm torn between two decisions. Your advice please fellow 33 ers.

i have seen your 33 alex and it is immaculate and a very nice and rare car also but £5000 i would be tempted to sell but then again would you get another as good.
5000 would buy you another 33 and have money to spend on it but at the end of the day alex only you can make the decision mate.
have a look around if there is anything out there that takes your fancy car wise.

Parting with what will soon become a very rare classic is a hard decision. When i had my mint yellow one, i was offered a lot of money for it and I just said no, its not what the car is worth but what it is worth to you.

Wow £5k Shocked

I think i'd be very tempted if someone offered me that, as £5k would be half a good GT v6, which is what i'd dearly love. However I know that I'd regret it the minute the buyer drove the car away, as I've put so much into the 33, and know i'd probably never get another one.

Very tricky.

Head says - sell sell sell, you probably wont get offered anything like that again anytime soon.

Heart says- don't let it go.

John

Buy yourself a good pair of trainers....do the deal and run like the wind.

I know we spoke about this when you came down Alex but 5 grand is a whole whack of money. Like John, I'd be very tempted and then put it towards a good sprint (what I'd really like to own). Must say your sportwagon is very nice and you wouldn't replace it without doing shed loads of work so I agree, a hard decision indeed.

Bearing in mind you are not looking to get rid ot it and you like the car I' be thinking, how much have I spent? If it's more than 5k then it's not worth the sale, if it's less and you could do another one then maybe sell but only if you've got a head full of 'if I was doing this again then I'd...' sort of thoughts.

Wow! Can't believe I missed this! You're thinking of selling your SW?! Look, if you're going to put the money to something that will generate more cash then sell it I say.

I very much doubt you would get another one (i.e. with the limited edition bodykit, condition etc) if you sell this. But if you're thinking along these lines then you best not sell.

If you need the cash, then sell. I love your car (and you know this) but it's a car and you will surely be able to pick up something else in the future. Things are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them (and really part with money for). You have a real buyer with real cash. Right now your car is worth £5K. Once that buyer goes, it becomes thoeretical again.

So in summary,

Sell if:

- You plan to make more money from the proceeds - Business decision
- You need the money or it's draining too much money - Necessity
- You want to start a totally new project (e.g. a Sud or something)

Don't sell if:

- You plan to look to replace with another SW
- You want to sell because you can.
- Peer pressure dictates you should.

Not sure if this helps you. Can't believe you didn't tell me...might have offered you more!

Only joking!

Good luck! Confused

Wow, didn't expect such a lot of replies, thanks guys. Well i dont need the money enough to sell the car, i told the guy today i dont think i will sell it but i am thinking about it, he then upped his offer to £5300. (to be honest an extra £300 would not tempt me).
Including buying the sw in the 1st place, all the new & decent bits ive bought for it & the massive bodyshop job 6 months ago the car has cost me £3100. (£2150 of which was the bodyshop fee).
I think i will keep the ol girl, it puts a smile on my face every time i drive it & like people have said, i would never find another sw like this.
Good to know 33's are attracting more £s though, i know of a P4 that sold a few months ago for £2600.
Very Happy

Please excuse the Peugeot rear reg plate, it is no longer like that!!

Ian, 2 sportwagons, i will sort out the red one from Darrel and get it nice to sell on. I think John at Just Suds is quite keen on it.

Hi,

Going to seriously consider s2 door handles now, they look much better.

I reckon if you painted your rear drums black you could push that buyer up to £6k if you did decide to sell Wink Laughing

Are those the Alfa 155 5 spoke speedline alloys? do they bolt straight on or is any adjustment needed?

Yup I've been considering S2 handles ever since I saw Alex's car (that one anyway) in the metal a few months back.

The previous owner of my car had painted the drums red. More or less the first thing I did was to paint them black (I always follow Mick's advice).

Jeremy, that song came into my head as I read it- even before the 'mick' bit.

I see a red drum...

Laughing

Thanks guys, i love my sportwagon, painting the drums black is a job on the list for this weekend, sinse these pics have been taken i have fitted new chrome wheel bolts & a nice set of blue Magnacor HT leads. Series 2 handles are much better than s3 ones, work better & in my opinion, look better. Yes it is the series 3 Zender kit, love it!!!
Charlie, yes they are 16" 155 Speedlines. (same as the ones on my 155 you saw in Devon), the rears need a 4/5mm spacer then they bolt straight on, the fronts need to be machined out by just 1mm to fit over the 33 hub, no spacers needed on the front end. Very Happy
