[john 33_16v]

Looks like this red s3 16v has undergone Bobbbers polish testing on the bonnet.

It does however have a 'boxter' engine so should be pretty fast, and airbags for the saftey consious.

Ha!! i used to own that one!! small world. I dont recall it having the air bag option when i owned it though.

I also owned K597 VPB - for 8 years until approx. 15 months ago. Me being 'Paul B', I took the reg. as my own private plate! I was the third owner. The first was 'Rogers Chapman', a company I used to work with. It was bought by them for their employee, Simon H, as his company car and he had it for 6 years putting just 36,000 miles on it.

It was then bought by a friend of mine, from Rogers Chapman, who owned it for 3 years before she 'gifted' it to me as she returned back to live in Scotland. 'The Red Rocket' had sat gathering dust (and with a tree growing through the engine bay) for over 12 months behind her flat in Twickenham, I got her going again and drove her the 2 miles to my house.

I got the car with just 50,000 miles clocked and at the time of parting, it was 104,000.

Approx. Oct. 2009 The Rocket failed the MOT due to failure of the top front passenger side suspension mounting. Stuart Edwards at Shepperton, Middx. had been taking care of my car for the previous 3 years and between us we tried to find new/replacement parts. After 7 weeks of trying, I eventually ran up the white flag and Stuart agreed to take the car off my hands and waive his bill.

3 months later, he got the parts required, put it through the MOT and then sold it to 'a mate' who lives in Ashford for £100. The ebay seller lives in Ashford, so how/when/where did 33bits get to own The Rocket?

Don't be fooled by the bonnet - it always did come up well - but only for about a week before if went a flat shade of orange. The rest of the car was good and definitely no airbags! It's a bit disconcerting to find that my old car has now passed on to someone new and that a photo on ebay may well be the last I'll see of The Rocket.

Hi Paul B, i was sure that reg was 1 that i had briefly but after reading your post i am obviously mistaken, i sold 1 to a women in East London (West Ham i think) & thought when i saw this 1 on ebay it was the same car, must be a similar registration. My mistake sir.
