Im looking to do an oil and filter change on the i.e. and wanted to get some thoughts on what oil to use. I have read some not so good things on Alfa Owner about Selenia oil, so Im wondering is it worth it, or should I just go for a good quality oil?
I would like to fit an oe filter, are they still available?
Cheers,
Kev.

Hi,

I think (?) the genuine filters are still available from AR dealers at about £12.

I personally use mobil1 changing at 2 years and about 2-3000 miles, but I think any good semi-synthetic is fine changed every 6k or less.

I use AGIP racing 10W60.

I used to put Shell 10W40.
After i installed a oil pressure gauge, i got really scared, because at idle, when hot, i got almost nothing in oil pressure. It registered 0.5/1.0 bar.
After i started using 10W60, the oil pressure got higher values at idle (hot).
Now i get 1.0/1.5 bar.

It“s a bit expensive, but worthwhile

I had the same issues at hot idle.

The Mobil 1 15w50 has a good zddp level I believe. (there is also a 5w50 - good for cold start ups).

Been using Castrol 10w60 for a year now and very pleased.

Mind you the price has risen now. Mine is due for a change now also.
Might go back to 300v Motul as I have some 15w50 spare. This was still a bit low on hot idle so may mix it with some 20w60 300v motul.
