Well chaps, It is with a heavy heart that the time has come to say farewell to K33 ALF Crying or Very sad

I had got around to putting the new wings on and generally giving her some resto work for the forthcoming MOT when poking around revealed some serious problems underneath. Basically it is shot. The factory underseal had been hiding a lot of rot (I actually thought it was pretty solid ) and now it's got so bad that it's just crumbling away in many places.

Still, it's had a good innings. I've enjoyed every second of ownership over the last 10 years and met lot's of great people because of it. I'm not going to say goodbye as I'll still look in on the site.

If anyone wants any bits and bobs let me know. I'd rather give you all first refusal before ebay and finally the scrapper. Crying or Very sad

Cheers, Lee.

Sorry to hear that Lee Sad
Have you thought of putting it up whole as a resto job? What seems like a lot of work to us, is nothing to guys in the business.
I hope someone takes it on, as there are far worse cars out there, you saw what i had done to mine Smile

Honestly Al, if it was worth doing I'd do it. Annoyingly I'd already started welding up the front chassis rail as i found a couple of holes when I took the wings/inner wing covers off. Then I realised the front two jacking points were through, proceeded to take the sill covers off......sills had holes, then poking further showed serious rot to rear jacking points/rear sill ends, rear boot floor, rear strut towers, Peeled back carpets to find damp underlay so took off windscreen apron to find massive hole under there too. It just carried on.

Gutted really. I loved driving that car. Put a smile on my face every time I went out in it. I just had no idea how extensive the rust was.

Gutter- really sad news.

I'm sure if you could save it you would.

I don't want it myself but can the plate live on? Can you whack it on retention before the mot expires?

Are you gonna look for another one?- Jeremy's?

John

I would save it if poss John, you're right. I've done alot to the car over the years including changing the engine and then rebuilding it again and it's not a flippant decision.
The plate is coming off. Currently Regtransfers are in the process of giving me a quote, otherwise it will be put on retention to be sold later.
Would love another one but we don't need two cars with me working nights (haven't needed two for 4 years, I just didn't want to get rid) so we will carry on with the 156 for now.

Lee

Sory for your loss, never nice to send a motor to the scrappers.

My car is solid, top dollar I know but you are buying a very solid car garaged for most of it's life and used every day so everything works.

J.

Really sorry to hear of your hidden rot, I'm sure a few crate's of Belgium beer will help with the esteem to tackle it yourself, you could create a space frame chassis for it, t'would be awesome.

Iain/Ian.

Beer is the way forward........Funnily, Jupiler cans have more thickness of metal and rigidity than anything on my car.

Well.... what can I say. I've just heard the news and can't believe there's an opportunity for me to gloat! Laughing

That bloody under-seal has a lot to answer for, oh, and the fact that the cars are made of shite metal.

Anyway mate - look on the bright side in as much as most people don't ever get to own such a great car and on top of it all you've got to do something really awesome that most people can only dream of...

...meeting me! Laughing
