Got my new race car with a 1.4 8v in it

Unfortunaky smokes a lot when revved

Been sat for 12 months nd had one race this year so I'm assuming if it has them that the rubber stem seals are knackered

The smoke doesn't appear to go when warm either it did have too much oil in but have emptied some out, what oil do you use it has 10w 40 part synthetic in it. At moment

Any clues

If you're looking for a temporary bandaid then try a thicker oil like 20w50.
Motul do a semi 15w50. 6100.

Any thicker then you are looking at synthetic oils like a 10w60.
I say temporary as if its the seals then they will leak anyway.
I have seen a semi 25w60 here. Or could have been mineral. Wouldn't recommend that for daily street use though.

Also a smokey tailpipe when accelerating can indicate a rich fuel mixture. I had that once when I tried larger idle jets.

Another thing.
Check your plugs.

I had leaky seals once. Plugs were oily.

Rich mixture will just leave the plugs sooty but dry.

If you're not prepared to do a head job then stick some thick oil in with some stop smoke additive..

No magic cure for leaky seals.

Are you sure smoke is due to oil burning?

Might be worth checking compression in cylinders first.

10w40 generally sufficient but you may want to use 10w50 or 15w50 for racing.
