Hello everyone,

You may be interested to know that I have the racecar fibreglass sets for the series 2. The panels replace the front wings, the rear wings are cut into the rear panels and the rear door skins come as a complete panel. The lightweight bumpers are very close copies of the veloce bumpers but are slightly strengthened and also slightly wider. This is due to the fact that the wings are wider in a similar way to the Integrale wings. They are a lot lighter. The bonnet is self supporting but effectively is a skin. It is made from fibreglass as is strengthened on the inside. The boot lid is similar to the bonnet and I had one on my last road car. It is staggering the difference in weight.

I have had the moulds for some time and used to make the panels myself for the race car fraternity, but due to pressure of work and mountain biking I now have the panels made for me. As a result they are not cheap. Interestingly though they also go onto a road car. My last one had them fitted before I crashed it heavily into a tree. I salvaged all the panels and they are now fitted to my 1830cc stripped out trackday car.

For anyone wanting to rally and lighten the car I also have the standard fibreglass door skins. These are quite easy to fit and provide great benefit to lighten the car.

how much money are we talking to lighten my alfa? i have s2 with a 16v which i put in Cool

and would love to make it go abit quicker,as for spraying i do it for a living.you say the front wing's are like the integrale,which is'nt a bad thing,did you widen the track on your car? so it did'nt look out of place.let me know

Hi,

Regarding the lightening of the car - it is a little difficult to determine - except to say that when you pick up and original bonnet for example there is no way at all that you can hold it out at arms length - with the fibreglass ones this is reletively easy. It is the same with the boot lid which is incrediably heavy. There is also a signifiant difference in the comparitive weight of the wings, not to mention the door skins and then the bumpers. I am trying to finish my car off so I can take it to the friendly breakers yard and put it onto their weigh bridge. With a few other minor weight saving measures I anticipate a rough weight saving somewhere in the region of 100kg. This may sound alot for a car that weighs some where between about 800 to 1050 kg depending on the model but the comparitive weight of the part is so great. I feels so good just to take the boot lid off and through it to one side and realise that you are never going to haul that around again. Just to take the boot lid off the car really does take two people to be safe.

One I have some weigh bridge numbers I will let you know.

Hello John,

Errr.... it isn't just front wings that are similar in shape to an Integrale it is the rear also. I guess I didn't make that clear in my original e-mail. The wings are not overdone - I would suggest that they are similar to the series 2 integrale not the final version. In answer to your question regarding spacing the front wheels - yes - on my last car with 16" revolutions I did use a space between the wheels and the hubs. This made the wheel fill out the arch nicely. At the back I put the spacer between the stub axle and the shell. I had to get some longer bolts for the front but this was no problem.

The race boys cut and weld together the lower struts etc or have longer rose jointed extentions but mine worked well with spacers for years that I never thought to change it.

I have some photographs that I would suggest might be good to load onto the site. Do you have any idea how to do that. You mentioned you had one in your gallery. Could you point me to it as am always interested to see what people have done to their cars that have bought the kits.

don't think i can spend that kind of money on the car,in one hit.it's a shame as the photo i have of your kit look's the nut's!!! but i'm very interested in the bonnet and boot,as they are the heavyest bit's.i take it all the fixing point's are on them? can you find out how much to post them,as i live in margate so it's abit of a trip.as for the photo i have,if you send me your e-mail address i can send it to you,as i don't know how to post photo's aswell.

I tried to set up a website so that I could direct the Alfa Pages to some pics, but for some reason nobody seems to be able to offer some easy ways to achieve this. I could, I suppose, pay someone to set up a website for me but I guess also that my children need to eat so.....

That's a Lester front spoiler, and eye-lids, right?

thank you for replay. The spoiler is very unique, only 9 spoilers are left. 20 were build. The spoiler looks originel with the big cloverloaf at both sides.

The front spoiler is a Lester one, the eye lids are home made. My car is in good condition, but my car is and will be changed a lot more than what you only can see. I have al lot of plans, i shall post more pictures soon.

24 and 25 april there is a big meeting for italian cars in belgium, for more information you can look on www.italfest.com. I will be there also.

Did you just buy the car, or are you currently selling it? I recently saw an identical car for sale in Holland on alfaforum.nl.

BTW, is it lowered by 30 mm? I'm just curious for an indication as I'm having my own 33 lowered soon. Wink
