Hello all,

I'm thinking of changing my brake pads and shoes.

I understand that there are other brake pads in the market which would improve braking a little.I'm told to get Ferodo brake pads?

Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I had a set of Ferodo DS2000 on my 1.7 S2 8V, from Ian at Alfasalv (has anyone heard from him lately?), but even I, with my nutter driving ability, found them toooooo hot, and wouldn't give much bite until you really cooked them.

I'm a convert know to Red Dot. They offer good bite at normal driving conditions, so you don't squish pedestrians when your pootling around town, but are very good when thrashed to their limits. With a set of red dot pads and discs you will be set up for most eventualities, although I would consider DS2000 with red dot discs for track days.

They also do an interesting replacement rear drum, with grooves in, which could be interesting in trying to get some more ability out of the rear brakes. Haven't tried it (I have a p4 now with discs all round) but the science semed to hold examination

Hi,

do you know if '91 33 1.7 16V come with drums or disk on the rear brakes?

Of the 16Vs, only the P4 had discs all round.

I agree with Matt, Red Dot at front (pads and rotors) are good both
for toodle and zoom driving.

How bout Sparco brake pads?
They cost a bomb!!! And have heard some people saying they are the best pads for an Alfa.
Anyone with views on this?

I have slotted rotors and DS2500 Ferodo pads on my 16V. When cold they don't stop. After a few applications though, they are brilliant.

I have slotted Emmeti rotors with Emmeti Sport pads.
Cheap and quite good stuff I think.
