After spending way too many evenings chasing Mythic crafting mats, I ended up realising the real slowdown isn't Sparks at all. It's runes, and that becomes obvious fast once you start planning specific gear. If you've been checking diablo 4 s12 items for sale or comparing what other players are wearing, you'll notice the same thing: getting the exact rune combination is where the grind really bites. The good news is there's a farming loop that actually feels efficient instead of miserable, and it doesn't rely on praying for random boss luck every hour.

Why the Undercity beats everything else
Right now, the Undercity is the place to be for rune farming, but only if you set it up properly. Before you go in, use a Tribute of Harmony. That part matters more than people think. Without it, the runs feel flat and the rewards are all over the place. With it, the returns are much better, especially over a longer session. In practice, you can expect a strong flow of legendary runes across a batch of runs, and since each clear can take roughly two minutes, the pace is hard to beat. It's not flashy, but it works. Compared to wandering through other endgame content hoping for a lucky drop, this is just cleaner and way more consistent.

Play on Torment 4 or don't bother
This is the bit some players don't want to hear. Torment 3 might feel more comfortable, sure, but the loot difference is huge. If your build can scrape through T4, even if it's not pretty, that's where you should be. The rewards are simply better, and farming on a lower tier starts to feel like wasted time. Once you're inside, don't get dragged into full clears. Skip most trash mobs, grab pylons, and push the reward bar as quickly as possible. As soon as it hits level four, head straight for the boss. That's the loop. Fast movement helps a ton here, so builds with teleports, leaps, charges, or anything similar have a real edge. And yes, even if a loot goblin pops up, I'd still leave it alone. Chasing it usually breaks your rhythm and costs more than it gives back.

How to keep the runs going
The only real issue with this method is keeping your Tribute stock healthy. That's where the Tree of Whispers comes in. Do Whisper tasks regularly, stack up a bunch of caches, then open them in one go. For whatever reason, that approach feels much steadier than opening them one by one as soon as they drop. You're basically feeding one farm with another. Bosses, on the other hand, aren't worth targeting if runes are your only goal. They can drop something useful now and then, but the rate is too weak to build a strategy around. If you're going after boss mats anyway, fine, but don't treat them as your main source.

Use rune upgrading carefully
There's also the Jeweler, which a lot of players forget about until their stash starts getting silly. Trading three lower runes for a chance at a better one won't solve everything, but it does help when your inventory is clogged with pieces you'll never use. Just don't rush it. It's very easy to burn a rune you actually needed, especially late into a grind when you're half paying attention and thinking about your next craft. I've seen people lose hours that way. If you stick with fast T4 Undercity runs, keep your Tribute supply topped up, and use the Jeweler with a bit of care, the whole Mythic chase becomes much less painful, especially for players who'd rather farm smart than just endlessly https://www.u4gm.com/diablo-4/items
