HI all.... some friendly advice please.
RE: my 8v 1.5 105h/p 33.
story: dAY 1: my car started running funny.... sounded different... lower power... sounds like three cylinders.
dAY 2: car didnt start well... definately sounds like three cylinders....
.. pulled the spark leads off... found the bad pot.
when I removed the plug... swear there was a drip of water on the tip.... very blackened too. ( also noticed there was NGK single contact plugs in the car... not what I payed for at my last service).
put in a Golden Lodge.
the car started ok... back to four cylinders. Didnt leave the driveway.
dAY 3 : thaught over night... better check the oil... and followed by a ten minute scream.... there was water mayonaise in the oil cap. Not much on the dip stick. S%@^T!!!!
the motor started ok- ish.... there was a bit of steam comming out of the exhaust... turnred the motor off and walked to work.
day 4: took the plugs out... turned the motor over... all ok.... put the plugs in... but the battery was too crap to start..
Quetion please.... if the motor was running on only three cylinders... for whatever reason..... (bad fuel... bung plug etc)... could this cause some kind of moisture in the cylinder and oil system????
or is it more likely to be a gasket????
Dick p.s. sure the car was jelous... had a cute girl in the front seat.. |

Hi Dick.
Definitely sounds like headgasket. They will run on unleaded provided it is a suitable octane. We've had unleaded in NZ now for some time but I've never been game to run on less than 96 octane. Others may have experience on lower grades but I don't think that is the source of your problems.

my 33 has mayo in the oil filler, this can be caused by doing lots of short jorneys,as when i go on long ones,it goes away. |
